Donning a
quiet and wise disposition along with measured tone, positive melancholic is
often seen but not heard in office conducting his affairs in his own style and
relish. Neither you can befriend him nor antagonize him. Such is the power of
positive melancholic that you have to be at his beck and call. In a corporate
body he be a consultant, in society a master mind and in a country member of
the deep state that runs the affairs of the state.
Having done
cosmic analysis of body, mind and spirit of positive melancholic, I am penning
features to help you identify one:
He uses delay
mechanism to keep you in suspense. For your query or request he does not
respond at the speed you want but at his own pleasure. Many things are piled up
and you think that he is purposely doing this. You are wrong: positive
melancholic has great memory power and what you asked for remains in his mind.
In fact he sleeps over the issue. When he calls up and gives his instructions
as to how you should go about you get upset once again because what he wants
you to do is not practical or feasible form your point of view. But he prevails
on the instructions given and you do what he asks for. At the end you realize a
win-win situation for you and him. You
remain perplexed the rest of your career how you missed reading the tea leaves.
Even though he
appears to be bold he has a fear of outside phenomena. We call it external
threat perception. For him the preservation of the social order, hierarchical
authority and normative framework are sacrosanct. Often you perceive him as
rule minded person wishing to keep the routine intact. For example if you pick
a pen from his desk holder to take notes, he expects you to replace it at the
same place once you finish with it. Any failure elicits a stern stare of
admonishment. Apparently, he does not like changes and is not open to any
innovation as he feels it can turn out to be a threat to his hold on matters
under his purview.
Control is the
driving force for him. Self-control apart, he has the whip in controlling you
and the other staff. He will ask you to do detailed analysis of your proposal
and will ask various questions to clarify. You cannot read his mind whether he
likes to proceed with or tries to put you on the gum tree. Once you have
amended your project he will use two more tools: one, he will reflect over it and
come with additional conditions; the other is to ask for your own comments and
suggestions. You realize, finally, that this man has deep wisdom and has the
patience to go through the steps in making you succeed in your career.
