Rationale behind Illustrations

1. For many children, women in black bring the image of witches or evil genies; besides scary stories of these witches and evil genies besotting the pages of history spook even the adults. Moreover, when a person sees a woman in black robe his sensory organs tickle the negative and dark side of his memory bringing scenes of death, bereavement, shroud, sepulchre and mourning. Sometimes he also gets an aroma of death in as dried carnation flowers. For most women in black robes instil fear of the evil, the un-known; the menace, the dark side of anything; not to mention Lucifer

Most feel a sense of revulsion when they see women in black robes when they embark on auspicious occasions; they see the women in black robes as persons protesting or rebelling against the social order. Furthermore, seeing women in black robes brings un-luck; as in the Hindu tradition the Lady Fortune (Goddess Lakshmi) never appear wearing black colour

Besides, if the menstruating women wear black cloaks or over-alls it is double whammy.

5. Seeing women in black robes first thing on a day brings ill-luck; besides, as in the Hindu tradition the Lady Fortune (Goddess Lakshmi) never appear wearing black colour.
