Rodrigo Duterte, what drives him to be strong and popular?

When Rodrigo Duterte assumed office as the sixteenth president of the Republic of Philippines on June 30, 2016 the world watched him with bated breath. To go by his record of fighting the drug lords in Davao city where he was mayor for 7 times spanning 22 years, using crime vigilantes and extra judicial killings, the anxiety of the world is reasonable. But then there was a twist. Duterte turned his guns on his one-time colonial masters: The United States. And you get another twist: his popularity skyrocketed. What drives Duterte to be that strong and popular? Read for more..
When I did a cosmic analysis of the body, mind and spirit of Rodrigo Duterte, I found that he has a powerful conscious mind along with reflective thinking style that guides him in every word he speaks and every action he takes. Reflective thinking seeks answers for phenomena that happened in the past, leading to triangular form of perception, analysis and then to apply it to the present problem to arrive at conclusion or action. With a powerful Sun with Saturn and Moon combination in his cosmic profile together with an agile life style, Duterte uses expletives, explosive statements and outspoken comments to press home his thoughts. Here are three illustrations gleaned from his life to prove the power of his conscious mind and reflective thinking:
1.         As a colony of United States during 1898 to 1946, the Philippines went through a period of untold misery and suppression. As the Filipinos rebelled the oppression grew harsher. Specially during the Pacification Campaign of 1899 to 1902 close upon one million people were put to death, most of them were Muslims and indigenous people. Forcible conversion to Christianity was used extensively. In the Sulu province, Muslim women and children were burnt alive watched by the American soldiers. Duterte displayed the picture of this massacre to public recently. From this Duterte perceived that the USA is bent upon dividing and destroying the people of Philippines. He analysed rightly that the Abu Sayyad rebel group is indeed an American protégé. So he asked the American forces to leave Philippines promptly.
2.         The parents of Rodrigo Duterte were civic minded people. His father Vicente Duterte became a mayor of Davao city in 1959 and during his administration treated all the Davaons with honour and dignity irrespective of their religion or ethnicity. His mother Soledad Roa Duterte was in social service and looked after the school drop-outs, women, children and all other oppressed groups. Duterte perceived that fair treatment of disadvantaged people of Philippines is necessary. He analysed that drug peddling and illicit logging are two of the key challenges waiting for him. He, therefore decided to fight drug war using extra judicial killings and illicit logging by maiming limbs of the loggers.
3.         As an attorney and later mayor of Davao city he heard so many sad stories of Philippine women mis-treated as migrant workers in the Middle East and elsewhere. He also sensed that human trafficking is yet another ill he must deal with. His perception of the situation is that trade and investment must be given priority over income generated from migrants abroad. He analysed that calling for a free trade protocol within the ASEAN, which he did during the recent meeting of SEAN leaders in Vientiane, Laos on September 6, 2016 is the right answer. As he often says “So be it”.
