The Difference between Adviser and Coach

Adviser and coach differ fundamentally in their role and output. This blog post identifies the chief differences and recommends that you must choose the one who combine being both adviser and coach.
Role:    Adviser is an individual who acts as an instructor detached from you providing info and knowledge that is new or only partially known to you. Whereas, coach is a guide attached to you and facilitates your learning.
Focus:  Adviser is task oriented and concentrates on successfully completing the given assignment. He looks you as an individual who is in the rat race to win ahead individually. On the other hand, coach is performance oriented and makes you an effective as well as efficient person who can go with the time and be a team player.
Horizon:    Adviser gives you specifics, “do this do that “commands to pre-empt you. Coach shows you broad horizon and prods you.
Position: In Transactional Analysis, an adviser plays parent and you are child. While coach becomes an adult and treat you as adult as well.
What you get:   From an adviser you get knowledge and skill; from a coach you get insight and understanding.
End-use:    Adviser improves your decision-making ability for the time being. Coach behoves you to learn problem solving all the time.
Relationship:  Adviser terminates his assignment once the job is done; coach continues until you reach your goals.
It is better for you to find a person who can combine both advising and coaching in his ambit. By the way, a cosmic adviser is one of the few people who combines both the roles of adviser and coach and makes you a successful and at the same time a satisfied person.
