Constellations and Gems


Everybody is born under a Birth Star located in a Constellation. There are eighty eight recognised constellations, out of which the Twelve Zodiacal Constellations are well known. In this blog post, I describe briefly astronomy, legend and Cosmics for each of the Twelve Zodiacal Constellations. I also recommend Gems & Crystals for each of the twelve zodiacal constellations to improve your life-style.
Aries
This is the first zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Ram” and astronomically as “Arietis”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun, it stretches approximately between 1.2 to 2.8 hours in the celestial longitude (Right Ascension or simply RA) and between 30 degree north to 10 degree south in celestial latitude (Declination or simply Dec). Notable stars in the constellation include Hamal, Sheratan, Mesarthim and Botein. Aries is one of the ancient constellations and in Greek legend it represents the ram sent by Mercury to save the children of the king of Thebes. In terms of religion it is the ram that appeared in front of Patriarch Abraham when he was about to sacrifice his son on the orders of the God. Aries give you positive cosmics including leadership, springing for action anytime, the quality of accepting defeat and try again, ready to take challenge & responsibility and helping others in their need. Negative cosmics are: impulsive nature, first to draw the gun life-style, stubbornness and insensitivity.

Taurus
It is the second zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Bull” and astronomically as “Tauri”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Aries and Gemini, it stretches approximately between RA 3.2 to 5.8 hours and Dec between 30 degree north to the Equator. Notable stars in the constellation include Aldebaran, Alnath, Prima Hyadum (the Birth Star of Barack Obama), Alcyone and Ein. Taurus originated from Babylonia as a constellation and in Greek legend it represents the Bull that was tamed by Jason & Astronauts. Virgins galore in Taurus whose stars are broadly classified in two groups: Pleiades & Hyades. Taurus gives you positive cosmics including wealth and fortune, patience and tenacity, the quality of charging against an enemy more powerful than yourself, working hard forever and popularity among the fair sex, that is if you are a male. Negative cosmics are: can be easily fooled by others, imbalance between mind and body, more than one partner in life and lot of emotions.

Gemini
It is the third zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Twins” and astronomically as “Geminorium”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Taurus and Cancer, it stretches approximately between RA 6.1 to 8.4 hours and Dec between 35 degree north to 10 degree south. Gemini marks the June Solstice. Notable stars in the constellation include Castor, Pollux, Alhena, Wasat, Mebsuta and Mehbuta. In Greek legend Gemini represents the inseparable twins Castor and Pollux who help Jason & Astronauts by calming the Sea. Even today, sailors notice twin bolt flashing before a storm. Gemini gives you positive cosmics including skills and high-spirit, song and dance, excellence in sports and physique, beauty and magnetism and the quality of leisure along with studied response amidst any turbulent situations. Negative cosmics are: take time to raise a family or settling in life, childishness, making merry out of situations leading to misunderstanding among friends & relations and shooting your mouth.

Cancer
It is the fourth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Crab” and astronomically as “Canceri”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Gemini and Leo, it stretches approximately between RA 7.8 to 9.5 hours, and Dec between 34 degree north to 4 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Acubens, Altarf, Ascellus borealis and Ascellus australis. This appears bright during summer. In Greek legend Cancer represents the crab that was crushed by Hercules. In Chaldean mythology it symbolizes the Heavenly gateway through which the souls travel to earth to be born as human being. Cancer gives you positive cosmics including keen understanding of others, strong mind, ability to short-circuit, excellence in verbal and written expression and a sense of perfection & completion. Negative cosmics are: often moody, impulsive, frequent travelling, hyper-sensitive, love of mother taking precedence over wife, defeatist attitude and susceptible to water based diseases.

Leo
It is the fifth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Lion” and astronomically as “Leonis”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Cancer and Virgo, it stretches approximately between RA 9.4 to 12.0 hours, and Dec between 33 degree north to 6 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Regulus, Denebola, Algedi, Zosma and Aldhafera. In Greek legend Leo represents the Nameon Lion from the Moon sent by Hera to kill Hercules. In Egyptian mythology it symbolizes the rising of the Sun in the star Denebola. Leo gives you positive cosmics including magnanimity, courage, fighting skills, leadership, open heart, disciplining others but not the self, sportsmanship, sea the broad picture and a friend in need. Negative cosmics are: laziness, gloss over details, tempers, carelessness, quick at the draw and susceptibility to heat based diseases.

Virgo
It is the sixth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Virgin” and astronomically as “Virginis”. Virgo is located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Leo and Libra. The Sun stays its longest stint of 44 days in this constellation where summer equinox takes place. It stretches approximately between RA 11.2 to 15.8 hours and Dec from 15 degree north to 23 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Spica, Zavijava, Zaniah, Poorima, Vindamiatrix, Syrma and Khambalia. In Greek legend Virgo represents the virgin goddess, the daughter of Astreos and Eos. In Babylonian mythology it symbolizes the goddess Istar, a queen of star & lover of Taammuz who was killed during autumn. So Virgo goes to the underworld during winter in search of her lover and returns during the spring. Due to this, Virgo heralds spring and season of renewal. Virgo gives you positive cosmics including springing back to action after any calamity, fondness towards arts and crafts, romantic love, knowledge of the un-seen, faithfulness to the spouse and family, being loved by friends & enemies alike and taking responsibility. Negative cosmics are: seasonal in nature, often taken for a ride by the opposite sex, too absorbed in a matter and unwittingly caught in a conspiracy or tragedy.

Libra
It is the seventh zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Scales” and astronomically as “Librae”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Virgo and Scorpio, it stretches approximately between RA 14.4 to 16.0 hours and Dec between Equator to 30 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Zuben Algenubi, Zuben Alchemali, Zuben Alaqrabi and Zuben Alkaribi. In Greek legend Libra is the vehicle of God Pluto. Considered as the sign of autumn, Romans and Arabs treated it as Scorpio while Persians and Egyptians as Scales. This duality continues even today. Virgo gives you positive cosmics including skills in business negotiation, excellence in international marketing, a balanced mind, detective skills, average physique, long life, skills in arts & crafts and a keen sense of making money. Negative cosmics are: entanglement with authorities, tragedy, falsely being implicated, and high office that ends in dishonour and urological disorders.

Scorpio
It is the eighth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Scorpio” and astronomically as “Scorpii”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Libra and Ophiuchus, it stretches approximately between RA 15.8 to 18.0 hours and Dec between 10 to 45 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Antares, Deschuba, Aqrab, Shaula, AlNiyat and Graffias. In Greek legend Scorpio is sent by Artemis to kill Orion. Scorpio gives you positive cosmics including bravery, skills in fighting, toughness, doing the job or assignment at any cost, ability to learn anything and patience. Negative cosmics are: unscrupulous activities, ruthlessness, cunning, inability to relate to bosses peers and subordinates specially when they are in opposite sex and brazenness.

Sagittarius
It is the ninth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Archer” and astronomically as “Sagittarii” Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Ophiuchus and Capricorn, it stretches approximately between RA 17.6 to 20.8 hours and Dec between 12 degree north to 45 degree south. Sagittarius marks the December Solstice. Notable stars in the constellation include Rukbat, Arqab prior & posterior, Kaus australis & borealis, Nunki, Alnash, and Albaldah. In Greek legend Sagittarius is a Centaur invented by god Chiron to help Jason & astronauts. In Babylonian mythology it symbolizes the God of war. Sagittarius gives you positive cosmics including strong physique with heavy legs, ability to forge ahead, skills in investment banking, goal orientation and swift talking. Negative cosmics are: hurried exit if matters fail leaving others at lurch, imbalance of energy within and paralytic or digestion related disorders.

Capricorn
It is the tenth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Sea-goat” and astronomically as “Capricorni”. Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Sagittarius and Aquarius, it stretches approximately between RA 20.3 to 22.2 hours and Dec between 8 to 28 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Algedi, Deneb Algedi, Dabih, Nashira, and Alshat. In Greek legend Sagittarius is “Pan” the god of flocks, shepherds, hunting and rustic music. In Babylonian mythology it symbolizes” EA” or “ ENKI” , the God of intelligence & intuition . Capricorn gives you positive cosmics including excellence in education, music and dance, helping others, skills in salvaging activities, persuasive skills and harmony in family and business. Negative cosmics are: fortune & fame come to you late in life, trial & tribulations, stressful jobs , a non-supporting family and nervousness or anxiety.

Aquarius
It is the eleventh zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the water carrier” and astronomically as “ Aquarii” Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Capricorn and Pisces, it stretches approximately between RA 20.5 to 24.0 hours and Dec between 3 degree north to 25 degree south. Notable stars in the constellation include Sadalmalik, Sadalsud, Adalbachia, Skat and Albali. Aquarius is one of the oldest constellations. In Greek legend Aquarius is “Ganymede” the cup-bearer to Jupiter. In Babylonian mythology it is the god who rules the sea . Aquarius gives you positive cosmics including excellence in learning, entertainment, keen insight, methodical approach, systems thinking, sincerity, hidden knowledge and average wealth. Negative cosmics are: Moodiness, isolation, weak physique, enjoying sex mentally, often misunderstood by others and fear of failure.

Pisces
It is the twelfth zodiacal constellation, known popularly as “the Pair of fish” and astronomically as “ Piscium” Located in the ecliptical path of the Sun between Aquarius and Aries, it stretches approximately between RA 22.8 to 2.2 hours and Dec between 33 degree north to 6 degree south. Pisces marks the Vernal Equinox. Notable stars in the constellation include Alrisha, Alphetg and Fom Al-Samakah. In Greek legend, Pisces represents Venus and Cupid thrown into the Euphrates River. In Babylonian mythology it symbolizes two fishes that push an egg out of the Euphrates River wherefrom emerged the Goddess Atagartis or Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty. Pisces gives you sense of being evergreen, renewal, and lot of cosmic energy related to sex & survival; it makes you a man of religion, wisdom and a fascinating life-style. Negative cosmics are: cultism, craving for popularity, obesity, lethargy and compulsiveness.
