Before making your motto just consider some of the mottos in business, army, arts and literature.

Apple: think different

SAS Regiment UK: who dares wins

Mossed: by way of deception

Thomas Carlyle: the king is the man who can

Literature: amor omnia vincit (love conquers all)

See the power, purpose and expressiveness of these slogans. You can do this by yourself by learning the art of making a motto. You need to two things for that. One you must understand your purpose and the other the configurations you require to make an effective motto.

Purpose is far important in creating a motto. Firstly, you must assess what you stands for in life, business and career. What are your ideals and ideas? What you strongly believe in as a concept driving you. For example, you may feel integrity is your ideal while you believe in hard work. Once you are through getting belief and ideal together you must go to the second step of setting a rule for you. Thereafter you must convey others that they must follow the rule you are propagating. As an illustration, you wish to move quickly in every matter and wants others to follow suit.

Now check your motto: “Get cracking with honesty and hard work” As you note this motto is the sum of all three purposes in a nutshell. Before finalizing, you have to test the motto to see whether it conforms to six cardinal criteria:

It must be memorable

It draws attention

It is concise and brief

It is simple and not wordy

It reflects your image and identity

It must rhyme harmoniously

The result: The motto developed “Get cracking with honesty and hard work” fulfils all six criteria and positively tested.

Just a piece of advice: Before jumping the bandwagon to develop a motto perform a cosmic analysis of yourself and understand your personal cosmics of your liking, ideals beliefs, values, attitude, performance and the result expected. Once you have this data with you, get cracking and make your valuable motto today.
